OUR STORY

Colleton County Adult Education, currently know as Colleton Adult Learning Center (CALC) has partnered with Colleton County School District, the Office of Adult Education (OAE) and other valued partners of the SC Works system to provide educational opportunities to the adult learner in Colleton County for over 20 years.  Ms. Helen Bodison was our first adult education director followed by our first full-time director, Mrs. Lynn Jones.  Over the years CALC has awarded over 2,000 SC Ready to Work Certificates, over 500 SC High School Equivalency Diplomas and over 300 SC High School Diplomas.  We have helped thousands of Colletonians prepare for post-secondary training, education, the United States Armed Forces and employment.  We continue to work through the uncertainties of COVID-19 by strengthening our partnership with the Technical College of the Lowcountry and offering Patient Care Technician classes and Certified Nursing Assistant classes on our campus.  We are also strengthening our ability to provide remote, or virtual testing and instruction.  Our future together is bright as our motto states:  Catch your future today!

A GLIMPSE OF COLLETON ADULT LEARNING CENTER

Colleton Adult Learning Center, also commonly refereed to as CALC, is a progressive adult education program that receives competitively awarded state and federal dollars dollars to assist the adult learner transition from the secondary to post-secondary training and education institutions that lead to fulfilling careers.  Colleton County School District (CCSD) greatly supports CALC by providing our 21st century campus, technology support, custodial services, financial oversight and leadership.  We are represented on the Lowcountry Workforce Board, South Coast Healthcare Alliance, and the CCSD Curriculum and Instruction Team.  Our program also supports the SC Office of Adult Education by coordinating Region IV of the State Technical Assistance Network which facilitates professional development for one-fourth of the state adult education programs.  Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) offers Patient Care Technician and Certified Nursing Assistant classes on our campus providing local access to Colletonians.
