I have exciting news to share! Because of the hard, focused work of our teachers, students, staff, administrators, school and district leaders, Colleton County School District made tremendous gains on the South Carolina School Report Card ratings that was released on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Because of these gains the district will be removed from the list of underperforming districts!
For the first time in 5 years, Colleton County School District has 0 Unsatisfactory Schools. For the first time in 5 years, we have 3 schools that have attained an
Average Rating:
Cottageville Elementary School, Forest Hills Elementary, and Hendersonville Elementary School.
Hendersonville Elementary School gained 16 points and moved 2 levels!
Colleton County High School moved up one level, from Unsatisfactory to Below Average.
Colleton County Middle School maintained their Below Average rating, however they gained points.
Bells Elementary and Northside Elementary were less than 0.5 points away from an Average Rating, maintaining a Below Average rating as well. Although Black Street Early Childhood Center does not receive a school report card rating, they provide the foundation for our students to be successful. Although TCTC, CAS, CALC and IMPACT do not receive a report card rating, they are extensions of our elementary, middle and high schools.
The South Carolina Department of Education's press release mentioned 3 school districts for their notable growth and Colleton County School District was one of them! The release states "Colleton County School District: 57% of the district’s schools improved their overall ratings, with one school improving by two rating categories from 2023 to 2024."
While I acknowledge that we still have a lot of work to do, I also celebrate for the remarkable growth attained because of everyone's hard work and dedication. With continued efforts focused on student success and higher expectations, we will continue to grow!
