Colleton County School District has announced the hiring of Dr. Chavon Browne as its new Deputy Superintendent.
Dr. Chavon Browne brings more than 20 years of experience in education to the Colleton County School District as the incoming Deputy Superintendent for the 2026–2027 school year. Throughout her career, Dr. Browne has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement, instructional leadership, and building meaningful relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
Dr. Browne earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Clemson University and later obtained a Master’s Degree, Education Specialist Degree, and Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership. Her extensive leadership experience includes serving as both an assistant principal and principal at the elementary and middle school levels, where she has led initiatives focused on academic growth, school culture, leadership development, and community engagement.
Known for her collaborative leadership style and student-centered approach, Dr. Browne is passionate about developing systems that support both excellence and equity in education. Her work has consistently focused on creating positive learning environments, strengthening school-community partnerships, supporting educator growth, and ensuring students are equipped for long-term success both academically and personally.
Dr. Browne is also recognized for her ability to build strong school cultures rooted in relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to student success. She believes effective leadership begins with listening, collaboration, and maintaining a clear focus on what is best for children.

I am excited for the opportunity to support the continued growth and success of the district and to work collaboratively to ensure all students have access to high-quality educational experiences.”
Dr. Browne will begin serving as Deputy Superintendent in July 2026.
